What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Mountain Heights Calvary Chapel based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

We believe there is only ONE living and true GOD. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. He has existed eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. We owe Him our love, reverence, worship, and obedience.

We believe JESUS is the eternal Son of God, the Word made flesh. He is both fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and willingly gave His life to die on the cross as a substitution for the sin of mankind. This was God’s plan for the redemption of mankind. Jesus arose from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, in whose Person affected the reconciliation between God and man. He’ll return in power and glory to judge the world and fulfill His redemptive mission.

We believe The HOLY SPIRIT is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. He convicts of sin and helps people understand truth. At the moment of salvation, He baptized every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. He enlightens and empowers the believer to live within God’s boundaries.

We believe MAN is the special creation of God created in His image-both male and female He created.   We were created to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through willful sinful disobedience. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort. This can only be accomplished through salvation.

We believe SALVATION is the restoration of relationship between God and man, made possible through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, who by shedding His own blood, obtained eternal redemption for the believer. Salvation is something we could never have attained through self-improvement or good works because it’s a gift from God. There’s no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe The BIBLE is the inspired Word of God, written by men under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it’s fully inspired by God, it is TRUTH without any mixture of error and is the primary source for Christian beliefs and guidelines for living.

We believe that heaven is a real place where the saved will dwell forever, and that hell is a literal place of torment where unbelievers will suffer forever.

We believe that the nation of Israel has a special place in God's plan, and that all of the promises of God to Israel will be fulfilled both now and in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in His millennium.
